Amber was once told that it was impossible for her to live a fulfilling life because she has a mental illness. Naysayers told her to just be happy to be alive and that she did not have a life purpose. Despite the negative, to her anything is possible.

She told herself, “I will help eradicate suicide.” This is the bold statement that serves as the vision and life work of Amber. As a mental health advocate and suicide attempt survivor, Amber is on a mission to empower others to live another day. Amber has started a nonprofit called Saving A Life.

Saving A Life will work to inspire resilience, create healing spaces, build community, and provide many other services. The vision of the nonprofit is to eradicate suicide and, in the process, save as many lives as possible. In addition, the mission is to empower all human beings to live another day. The nonprofit is geared towards those dealing with mental illness, suicidality, attempted suicide survivors, and anyone else fighting for their lives.

Eradicating suicide is possible and through the nonprofit Amber will make her vision a reality. To eradicate suicide, we must not just think locally, but globally.
